Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) & Medical Director
Lina Hassell
Dr. Lina Hassell has been a valuable part of the CWAH team since 2017. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006, and then went on the receive her DVM at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010.
Unlike most veterinarians who have wanted to be vets since they were 5-years-old, Dr. Hassell did not decide to be a vet until her junior year at UT.
What attracted her most to the profession was that she would be able to treat the whole body and different species. She could be a surgeon, a gastroenterologist, an ophthalmologist, a dermatologist, etc. as a general practitioner and work with sea turtles in Grand Cayman, marsupials in Australia, or macaws in the Amazon (all of which she has done). Veterinary medicine is such an exciting ever-changing and growing field, and Dr. Hassell loves to be a part of it.
When Dr. Hassell is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, her two children, and her three-legged German Shepherd mix, Frankie, and Dalmatian mix, Yoshi. She appreciates a good musical, movie, or book, wishes she had more time for traveling, and is a bit of a foodie. She looks forward to continuing to support and cultivate the human-animal bond with your family, and doing her best to give your pets longer, healthier lives.
